Meet Mario Trejo Romero

More than 40 years of experience. A lifetime of community. A commitment to putting people first.
Mario Trejo Romero has built a career around helping people find more than a house. He helps them find a place to call home.

As founder of Romero & Co. at The Melcher Agency
Mario brings more than four decades of residential real estate experience, along with a deep understanding of Arizona’s neighborhoods, history, and communities. Known for his calm, thoughtful approach and unwavering integrity, he believes real estate should be built on trust, education, and lasting relationships rather than pressure or sales tactics.

Born and raised in Arizona’s West Valley, Mario grew up in a migrant farmworker family. Alongside his parents, three brothers, and two sisters, he traveled the fields following seasonal crops throughout Arizona. Those early experiences taught him lessons that continue to shape his life and career today: the value of hard work, the importance of education, the power of perseverance, and the belief that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and respect.

Mario began his real estate career in 1983 and joined The Melcher Agency in 1993. Over the years, he has helped generations of buyers and sellers navigate changing markets and major life transitions with confidence and clarity. Whether assisting first-time home buyers, longtime homeowners, investors, or clients planning their next chapter, Mario focuses on helping people make informed decisions while feeling supported every step of the way.
His philosophy is simple: listen first, communicate clearly, and always put the client’s interests at the center of every decision.
Today, that philosophy extends through
Romero & Co.
, a collaborative team dedicated to providing exceptional service, personalized guidance, and a seamless client experience. Together, they work to ensure every client feels informed, respected, and empowered throughout the process.
In addition to serving clients throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area, Mario serves as a
Real Estate Commissioner for the Maricopa County Superior Court , a court-appointed role that reflects the confidence placed in his expertise, professional judgment, and integrity. He views this responsibility as an extension of his lifelong commitment to public service and ethical leadership.

Mario’s professional achievements include earning the prestigious Certified Residential Specialist (CRS)
designation and recognition as a Howard Brinton StarPower Star. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions with the Arizona Association of REALTORS®, Phoenix Association of REALTORS®,Certified Residential Specialist organization, Hispanic Association of Real Estate Professionals, and the National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals. His work has consistently focused on advancing professionalism, fair housing, diversity, inclusion, and expanding opportunities for homeownership.

Beyond real estate, Mario has devoted countless hours to community service and civic leadership. His volunteer work has included organizations dedicated to affordable housing, historic preservation, arts and culture, education, and neighborhood revitalization. He has served with Neighborhood Housing Services of Phoenix, Chicanos Por La Causa, the City of Phoenix Historic Preservation Commission, Phoenix Theatre, Ballet Arizona, Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Latino Arts & Cultural Center, Phoenix Film Foundation, and numerous other organizations that strengthen Arizona’s communities.
For Mario, community involvement is not separate from real estate. It is part of the same mission: helping create vibrant neighborhoods, preserving the character of the places we love, and ensuring that future generations have opportunities to thrive.
At the heart of everything he does is a simple promise: every client deserves to feel
safe, seen, heard, and supported
.
Whether you’re buying your first home, selling a longtime family property, relocating, investing, or simply exploring your options, Mario and the Romero & Co. team are committed to providing the knowledge, guidance, and advocacy you deserve.
Because real estate is about more than transactions.
It’s about people, relationships, community, and finding a place to call home.
